Just having beat Portal 2 on my 11" MBA with a 1.6ghz core 2 duo and the 320m, playing it on max settings, native resolution at ~40fps was GREAT.
This isn't possible on the Intel graphics, it'd tip just below smoothly playable at these settings. The CPU is barely a bottleneck, seriously. What other 11" device can run a modern game maxed out?! Thank god for the Source engine, and for Apple's 320M+C2D choice.

Well, it is pretty not functional in this early release.
There is a new app called "Server" which seems to be similar to the current "Server Preferences." I always find Server Preferences to be a joke.
Server Admin is still their, but all the Services that "Server" covers are not in Server Admin. Thankfully NetBoot and SUS are still in place as is DNS. What they may be doing is using "Server" for the consumer. And keeping more advanced features like DNS, OD, etc in Server Admin.
Notably missing from File Sharing is NFS and their are no advanced file sharing options in Server Admin.
All in all, I am pretty disappointed. I would much prefer the "Server Preferences" and "Server Admin" arrangement that is currently in SL Server. I definitely would not say this is fulling featured. At this time it is a giant downgrade

I'm not a huge fan of Time Warner, but hey, there's not much they can do here. It's actually a great idea, allowing channels to be watched from any screen so long as you have a subscription...
The fact that some networks are against this is mind boggling.... why on earth would you want to decrease potential viewership when your revenue is based on increasing viewership?

I got the 3.1 update yesterday, and I was getting push notifications with badges and alerts but not sound or vibration. I am positive that my silent/ringer switch was set to allow sound.
This morning I got the new 3.1.1 update. Immediately, I noticed that I started getting sound alerts and vibration in addition to the badges and alerts. Yay!

I don't follow canadian politics much, can someone tell me aboot the main ideological differences between liberals and conservatives in canada? eh?
Let's put it this way, if the conservative leader Stephen Harper, who has won a majority government tonight, was the prime minister back in Canada too would have entered the pointless mess that is the Iraq war. We had a liberal party in power then, and they rightly decided otherwise.
A conservative government is also more friendly to corporations (cutting corporate taxes), less concerned with the environment (supporting oil sands in Alberta), in favour of spending more on the military (buying new jets in the coming years) and more willing to spend huge amounts on security and the like (~$1 billion spent for security during the Toronto G20 summit).
Having said that though thankfully in Canada the conservative party is nothing like the hawkish corporate shills that you guys have in the US, at least not in that extreme.

A 4" iPhone would probably replace the 3.5" model so all the current apps would run on it no problem. It might require some tweaking for some apps but the upside is you get to update your app and sell it again.
If they build an iPhone with the same size screen as the iPod Nano then they could invite developers to develop mini-apps for that size screen to be used on the iPod Nano and iPhone Nano, creating a new AppStore category. Would be a huge market and very attractive to developers of news/info related apps.
In my eyes a phone that has a screen as small as the nano would not be a great idea or success. Even making the screen slightly smaller introduces a real difficulty in regards to the keyboard. Even if the screen is the same resolution as the original iPhone, a smaller physical size would make typing extremely difficult. I would love to see some sort of physical keyboard implementation, say a slide form factor like the palm pre, but this is very non-apple and I would be astonished if they went down that route.
A smaller phone is however a very interesting proposition for me, I personally would like to go smaller not bigger as i have my iPad for anything that would be a pain on a small screen. Having had features like sat nav, music, Internet, email etc I couldn't forgoe these in the search for a smaller form factor though so a compromise between the two would be nice. Just my thoughts and probably as likely to come true as this Wu chap's predictions, ie guessing.

I have a Verizon iPhone, and I had it happen. At midnight last night, my phone rolled back to 11pm. I went in to change it manually, and turning off DST corrected it. I left DST and rebooted my phone, and its worked perfectly since. It stayed at midnight then, and this morning, it has successfully rolled forward.
So yes, there is a bug, but a reboot fixed it for me.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago in Japan (so mine's actually a Kiss Digital X). It was released 1 day before I bought mine. Jessops etc seem to have them in stock. I've not seen a full review yet. dpreview have a preview (http://www.dpreview.com/articles/canoneos400d/), the review should be out soonish...

Cut defense, raise taxes on the rich, and close corporate tax loopholes. Deficit solved without cutting any social services. In fact, the little "balance the budget" exercise I posted a few weeks ago proved we could add a surplus while still increasing money for social services, green energy and veterans benefits. All with a progressive tax increase on the top 10%.
As Maddow says, its not about the budget.
This mentality and mentality will never fix budget problems.
You cannot simply go "oh we are spending more money than we have, lets just go get more money" or "what do we want to do? let's get the money to do it" and expect to keep a balanced budget. Because the next time you have the problem, you'll do the same thing. This obviously is not repeatable indefinitely.
The way to keep a balanced budget does not change when you are the government as compared with individual. It's about not spending more than you have and then finding ways to get more money. It's about spending money on things which are necessary, not merely wanted.

I'm upset that the compared the 11'' Air to such low end Windows boxes, I'm disappointed as I wanted to see some nice Windows ultraportables.
Seriously? A few MB's of RAM saved is worth over double the price? I'm not bashing Apple here, I love my Mac and I love OS X, but Windows 7 with an antivirus runs a hell of a lot smoother on my iMac than Snow Leopard does. When you take that into account, it pales into insignificance does running an antivirus.
Not to mention that plenty of OS X users now use an antivirus, despite there being no real need to.
Mentioning many OS X users use antivirus is useless, as anyone is in the conversation is able to decide not to run antivirus on OS X.
As for greater performance on OS X vs Windows 7 you'd need to compare software on both platforms, but since the best things on OS X don't run on Windows 7, I can't see many comparisons worth wild. (although this is personal, if you want Windows 7 software, go for it!)

This is the case: I have three folding widgets running for over a week now, no problem in that week. I have three because I want to monitor someone behind me (Atszyman) and my next overtake in front of me. But when I just looked all three widgets where on Atszyman.

I agree with your point of view, but I am trying to expand the MHz/GHz speeds of a G4 to how it would compare against a P4 of ≈ same speed. My post had approximations, so that's why I say approximately equal to, not =. But my point is that the G4 can actually surpass the P4 at 3 or 4GHz speeds if the right apps are used.

Seriously, does anyone know how to use an email address that is not a mac.com address as the reply-to in .mac webmal?
I only use the webmail at work, and at home Mac OS X Mail lets me use my "real" email address as the reply-to. I would love to know how to do it in webmail. An earlier poster said you can, but I just can't see how.
