A few people have set up chat for MWSF in ichat. it is called: MWSF08. Simply go to file>Go to chatroom> MWSF08. All 7 of us in the room were wondering if MacRumors could lock this or announce it somehow.

This girl must have you star-struck, eh? Sending messages over to other computers in the apple store is difficult. They always have these odd names for ichat/bonjour services, so it's not likely you'll be able to do this on your first try. You could be sending a message to another GUY somwhere in the store for all you know.

That is just it, I have no idea if she that hot because I hardly know her, and physical appearance only goes so far. As far as hiding behind "i dont care" as steeleclipse mentioned, I am not hiding behind it, I am stating a true fact, which myself of all people should realize to be true. If I go there again I am not going to avoid her, I would hope she doesn't feel the urge to avoid me considering I haven't done anything to her, and frankly shopping doesn't require purchases, so I shouldn't be forced to only enter the store when I have a need to purchase, I like to browse. I would not at all be pissed if she dated someone else, for all I know she could be right now and that is great for her. I simply thought she was an attractive and interesting person, and since I have a poor history of initiating contact with women I like, I thought I would ask around. I guess my purpose didn't quite filter in to all of your understandings :p

I don't take offense to much, this is no exception so no worries on that front. why do we (or some of us) want a entire case redesign for MBP... i mean, i can understand the logic behind easily accessible harddrive.. and if i push it, maybe the magnetic latch, but the entire case redesign? what's wrong with the current case? i think most people think the case looks nice...
only the macbook has been redesigned in the intel transition process.. but thats because ibook hasn't gotten a case redesign since ibook g3, no? and plus, it's not even THAT much of a redesign.. and aside from that, mini stayed the same, imac, mac pro all stayed the same (and imac already had a 2nd revision..) i don't see apple redesign it either
I for one hope they redesign the entire case. I dropped my 17" Power Book while it was in my computer bag and caught it by the strap as it hit the floor. I'm not sure if you can picture this, the bag was on my shoulder and slid off and I caught it just as the corner hit. I thought, thank God it was in a computer bag. Well the corner of my computer that it the ground was folded like aluminum foil. I was really surprised that I was able to reshape it back into shape with my hands.
Granted nothing was wrong with the computer, but....

It seems one of the best features is the upgrade price for existing customers. Free. This makes all of the upgrades even better, since they are free. Apple has really eliminated the possibility for pundits to bash the new version, since it is free for existing users. It is an amazing upgrade.

Got my copy of Leopard and t-shirt! Start queuing about half four, maybe a little after.

Also, congrats to the Apple store security people for blocking off the fools who started their own alternate queue from the opposite side of the store entrance. The organisation was crappy though. I don't know how many t-shirts there really were, but if anyone from Apple is reading this, next time someone should probably walk down the queue while it's not frantic and hand out numbered tickets for people to show as they go in.
I can't wait to get home and install it though! The front is so shiny� :O

I wouldn't worry too much just yet. As I said above, just because Adobe has decided to proceed in this manner does not mean everyone else will too. I'm betting that PPC machines will still be "safe" for a few more years in this respect. And plus, for many "non-Pro" users like myself, I don't need to run the latest version of certain software, so even if the newest versions are Intel only, this won't affect me much. My Office v.X will still run fine, just as my Photoshop Elements 3, iLife 06 and Toast 7 will. They meet my needs so I don't feel a need to upgrade them at this point in time even if new versions come out (UB or not). :cool:

The iPad is not a tablet PC. You can still pay $2,000 for a tablet PC if you want. The iPad is a tablet yes, but it doesn't run a full blown deskptop OS (I'm not getting into that argument).
My point is, Apple used to offer excellent discounts to students and teachers across all of it's product ranges. It's a shame they're not offering the same with the iPad.
Who cares??? its a $500 device that can replace all computer needs of any student. Period.
I'm tired of hearing this backwater lack of imagination. Every student should have an iPad, and the great news is that most can afford one, even without "discounts".

I'm with you. I already catched myself looking up a number in my nano's address book ("contacts") and looking for the "call" item. I'd love to have the main menu going "Music \n Phone \n Phone \n Extras etc." But the nano might actually be a little small for a phone. Try holding one at your ear for a minute. How about an add-on that you plug in on the bottom via the dock connector? Makes the thing a little longer and you can just upgrade your iPod. Kinda like the iTrip, but in the exact same design as the iPod itself.
No way would an iPhone launch without a keypad. Text messaging is too popular. I think it will be a slider phone, though, so they keyboard is tucked away until you need it.
And I don't think the nano length is too short for a phone. My SonyEricsson is the same height as the Nano.

The phrase Podcast didn't exist until the development of Apple's iPod so I don't see why they shouldn't own the rights to it or at least have some level of control for it's use.

Here in Canada, we just had a carrier launch on the AWS band. Their prices are dramatically better than anything the old carriers offered. even if apple wanted to keep the iphone exclusive in the states, they could have still included the band for our sake.

I'm more concerned with trademark names of products rather than companies, given that each company could have dozens of products, hence there is much greater potential for contention over product trademarks than company trademarks.
Honestly, I don't have much problem where company or product trademarks are generic terms not directly associated with their respective industries, for instance Apple Computers ("Elephant Cars", "Earthquake Chocolates" etc..) The potential for name contention there isn't that great.
But when companies attempt trademark generic terms which have relevance in that specific domain - such as "pod" for a portable device for storing and carrying digital media, the likelihood for contention over names skyrockets.
I don't really have much sympathy for any company who wants to leverage familiarity/phonetic similarity with everyday words, but then in turn fights to have exclusive rights to phonetic variations of it.

Well, it was pretty great while it lasted, but we all kind of saw this coming I think. At least they're replacing these channels with equal alternatives... Comedy Central = Jewelry Television and FX = Home Shopping Network, right? Points for effort at least... After years of bending over its customers, at least TW did do something cool; if only for a couple weeks...

Dust is an equally big problem. MBPs are just-about up to the task of day-to-day office use (we have 4-5 MBP at work) - logic board fail if they smell water near the keyboard. All HW ports are open. Al Cases prone to warpage...
But for all we know it's a tour to look at UI concepts for 'soldier of the future' type applications.
